Traditional English Toffee
Here's a simple recipe for a traditional English treat.
INGREDIENTS
1 lb. butter
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
Chocolate chips
Slivered almonds
DIRECTIONS
Combine the first three ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and gradually reduce the temperature.
Cook to a hard stage and pour onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips, leave for 30 seconds or till melted and spread out the chocolate.
Sprinkle with slivered almonds. Put in freezer for approximately 10 minutes. Break with a knife.
